1536421 Pile fabrics IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 Dec 1975 [7 Jan 1975] 597/75 Heading D1K [Also in Division B5] A flexible laminate comprises a first outer layer 1 which is a continuous thomoplastic material, a first backing layer 3 for the first outer layer, a second outer layer 4 which is a tack-spun pile-surfaced product on a second backing layer 5, the first and second backing layers adhering together. The first outer layer 1 may be of a polymer or copolymer of ethylene, propylene, butadiene, vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, vinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile or styrene, or a polyamide, polyester or polyurethane, preferably plasticised polyvinyl chloride, and may be embossed as at 2 to produce simulated leather or may be lacquered or metallised. The backing layers are preferably of paper, cardboard or woven or non-woven cloth, e.g. woven cotton fabric or non-woven viscose rayon, bonded together by means of an adhesive which may be a contact adhesive, synthetic rubber adhesive or plasticiser free polyvinyl acetate dispersion. The pile surfaced product 4 is preferably of pigmented low density polyethylene which may be embossed or provide a simulated suede leather finish. The pile surfaced product may be provided by pressing a film of low density polyethylene against a heated roll and drawing it away while cooling so thatfibrils are drawn from the surface of the film. |
