It is desired to manufacture, at high rate, deformable tubes of the toothpaste-tube type. Starting with a tape (strip), a forming station (20) produces a tube and welds (32) the overlapping edges (25). A cutting device cuts it up into lengths (24). Each length (24) is arranged on a mandrel (26) of a turntable (rotary plate) (50). A step-by-step rotation of the plate (50) presents each mandrel successively to various stations, especially heating (54), forming (55), and rolling (67) stations. The length is heated (54) and then radially moveable fingers deform the end of the tube by applying it against ribs, thereby forming indentations (55). These indentations are next flattened by a roller (67) against the conical end of the mandrel so as to form a conical shoulder and a neck. An added element (76) having a threaded end-piece is next slipped over the end of the tube and then welded (81) thereto. The end-piece receives a plug (91) and then the tube is ejected (93) towards an output channel. <IMAGE>
