1348701 21-Halogeno-steroids SCHERING AG 19 April 1971 [28 Feb 1970] 22302/71 Heading C2U Novel steroids of the formula (wherein -A-B- is -CH 2 -CH 2 -, -CH= CH- or -CCl=CH- and X is a halogen atom) are prepared by halogenation of the corresponding 21-ols, directly or via 21-sulphonates. 6α - Fluoro - 2 - chloro - 11#,21 - dihydroxy- 16α - methyl - #<SP>1,4</SP> - pregnadiene - 3,20 - dione is prepared by direct 2-chlorination of the corresponding 21-acetate, followed by hydrolysis of the 6α - fluoro - 2 - chloro - 11# - hydroxy - 21- acetoxy - 16α - methyl - #<SP>1,4</SP> - pregnadiene - 3,20- dione first formed. The novel steroids are anti-inflammatory agents and may be made up into pharmaceutical compositions with suitable carriers. |
