<p>Thermoplastic container for foods, e.g., meats, or motor oils, is produced by (a) forming a composite plate with a peripheral part of a thermoplastic resin and a central part of the thermoplastic resin modified with another matl. that provides better physical props., and (b) forming the plate into a hollow container with a closed bottom at one end, and an open end with a peripheral flange, the latter being formed by the peripheral part of the plate, while the bottom is formed by the central part of the modified matl. The body of the container can be modified so that it has a low permeability for gases such as oxygen, and also can have a higher rigidity than the flange. The flange part is made of a matl. that can be easily sealed e.g., with a metal closure.</p> |
