Method of producing metal stopper caps

The cap for stopping a container with an externally threaded neck comprises a crown (6), a skirt (7) and a rounded zone (9) connecting the crown to the skirt. The skirt (7) has grooving (8) uniformly extended over its entire height. The method of producing the cap consists of a single die-drawing operation, which is an advantage. This operation consists in forcing a metal disk through a grooved throat. The grooves thus formed extend over the entire height of the skirt. A cap thus obtained lends itself to application on bottles with a threaded neck rim (collar) for screw-type stoppers by means of a rolling operation. <IMAGE>
