<p>The continuous formation of a ribbon of bast fibres, which have been spread over an inclined ramp after leaving a scutching turbine, comprises the successive operations of horizontal laying, drafting, and eventually condensating to form a ribbon. The ribbon is finally conditioned. The sequence of operations is preceded by a process regulating the thickness of the fibres leaving the scutcher. The appts. provides a convenient manner of preparing the scutched bast fibres for modern spinning machinery, carefully controlling the feed of the scutched fibres by wt., so that the final ribbon may weigh between 35-40 g./metre.</p> |
