An appts. for producing low density foams comprises a chamber contg. a centrifugal rotor turning about a vertical axis having >=1 radial paddle. Liq. reagents opt. partly preformed are introduced downwards on to the top of the rotor at or near its axis, and the mixed foam is discharged from the chamber via a tangential outlet. Used esp. for mfg. self-supporting urea-formaldehyde foams of low density, specifically 20 kg/m3 resin. The simplicity of construction and operation presents few variables which can alter or be altered to change the characteristics of the prod. foam.
