The grinding and filling process is for utilization in the filling of cracks in concrete slabs e.g. highway pavements. The process involves grinding a groove in the surface of the concrete and along the line of the crack. The groove has a dovetail cross-section and is then filled with a strip of elastic or plastic material. The section of the groove is designed to avoid deterioration and debonding of the filler under thermal movements etc. The grinding operation may require the making of two oblique incisions on opposite sides of the crack, and the grinder may be inclined at 30 degrees to the vertical.
