<p>Dihydromocimycin of formula (I) and its salts, esp. alkali, NH3 or amine salts, are new: (I) is prepd. by cultivation of Streptomyces ramocissimus CB CBS 190,60. Also a process for preparing mocimycin (II) which comprises dehydrogenation of (I) with SeO2 is new. (I) is an antibiotic similar in many ways to (II) but does not increase growth rate or improve food utilisation when incorporated in human food or animal feed. (I) can be added to pig feed at 10-200, esp. 20-40 ppm for control of dysentery caused by Treponema (including strains resistant to tylosin). It can also be added to the drinking water or administered by injection.</p> |
