A first pointed wedge has at least two spaced parallel fingers. A second pointed wedge has at least one finger disposed in the space between the two fingers of the first wedge. The second wedge has the same length as the first wedge. Wood gripping teeth on the outer surfaces of the wedge are directed rearwardly for engaging the opposing surfaces of a saw cut in a tree. A drive handle coupled to the first and second wedges alternately applies an axial force to each of the wedge to successively advance the wedge arrangement into the saw cut in a step-by-step manner.
