The manufacture of wire by projecting a jet of liquid silicon steel through a nozzle into a cooling medium is improved by using a silicon steel in which the content of elements having free enthalpy of formation of the oxide greater in absolute value than the free enthalpy of formation of silicon dioxide (SiO2) at the temperature of the liquid silicon steel projected through the nozzle is less than 150 ppm, and preferably less than 100 ppm, for each of said elements. |
