The machine is for the manufactuer of steel wire springs. It has a tool plate, carrying front processing tools, which are displaceable towards a winding spindle in the plate centre. A turnable hollow longitudinally displaceable spindle is co-axially positioned in front of the winding spindle. In the working position, the free spindle end engages around the winding spindle. The spindle end has a radial groove between a nose and a round section and a ring groove in its internal surface, to retain the wire before and during spindle rotation. The spindle has a holder fastened via a coupling to a turnable longitudinally displaceable shaft.
