<p>The system monitors a conveyor belt for lengthwise slits, by pulling it open so that the material handled falls through onto a weighing machine giving an alarm and stopping the belt. Opening is effected by inclining the cuter rollers over which the belt travels away from the centre. The material falling through the slit can be used as a damage indicator. The equipment is mounted after the loading point of the belt since it is here where such damage is most likely to occur due to sharp-edged lumps of material, foreign bodies etc.</p> |
