The shafts of the two rollers are seated in shoes (4, 5) slidably fitted on slide rails (6, 7). Roller (2) bears against spindle extension (8) and forms a fixed abutment. Shoe (4) of roller (3) rests against spindle extension (9) which carries head plate (10) on its end. The head plate rests against, and is attracted by, electro-magnet (11). During normal operation the head plate is completely pressed against the magnet. When a hard body passes the gap between the rollers, plate (10) moves away from the magnet and then returns.
