The d.f. station has a group of aerials mounted on a circle or on an arc of circle, with each aerial connected to a power divider with several outputs. There are directional beam networks in which certain power dividers are connected togther by an output each. there is a switching matrix to whose output the connected directional beam networks can be switched through, and one or several receivers following the switching matrix for coarse direction finding. Fine direction finding is carried out by two overlapping directional beam networks connected to the switching matrix two outputs, with a variable delay line inserted in order to swing the differential diagram.
