PURPOSE:To reduce considerably the winding set of a silver halide photographic material having a cellulosic lower fatty ester base substrate by heat-treating the same in a winding state for use and in reverse winding under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide photographic material which comprises coating photographic constituting element layers on a cellulosic lower fatty ester base substrate followed by drying is taken up in such a manner that the emulsion layer coated side comes on the outer side of the originally wound film. At this time the air enclosed within the winding layers is 25 deg.C or under and has preferably dew point temperatures of 0 to 20 deg.C and the relative humidity is kept below 85%RH. In this state the originally wound film is heated to 28 to 65 deg.C, preferably 30 to 50 deg.C, after which it is unrolled, whereby the roll film is obtained. These obviate giving any adverse influence at all on the photographic characteristics of the emulsion layer and other photographic constituting element layers at the heat treatment, make processing easy and make cost lower and volume productivity higher. |
