The compsn. contains, as active ingredient, an aminomethane-phosphonic acid or deriv. having formula R-CH2-P(=O) (OR') (OR") (I) (where R is NH2 or NH3 +X-; X- is an (in)organic acid anion equiv.; R' and R" are H, 1-6C alkyl, an alkali- or alkaline earth metal cation equiv., or an equiv. of a protonised N base or of a cpd. contg. an NH3+ gp.), mixed together with extenders and/or surface active agents. (I) have higher cotton defoliant activity than the standardly used S S,S-tributyl-phosphorus-trithioate, and also prevent plant re-growth. |
