PURPOSE:To change the characteristics of the gas spring in the proximity of the maximum of minimum length thereof with a simple construction by arranging the spring between two carriers. CONSTITUTION:This gas spring composed of a cylinder 1 for holding gas, a rod with one end projecting outside the cylinder, two carriers 5 and 7 provided on the other end of the rod at a given space in such a manner as to move axially, a spring provided between the carriers, and a stopper 9 adapted to receive a mobile stopper provided for the cylinder 1. With such an arrangement, a characteristic AB is indicated constantly until the carrier 7 reaches the stopper 9 after the rod 4 intrudes and thereafter, with addition of charging force by the spring 8, it is changed as shown by BC. In this manner, with a simple construction, the characteristic of the spring can be changed in the proximity of the maximum or minimum point of the stroke. |
