The height adjustment piece for a shower support in a wash room, consists of a column (3) mounted on a wall, and on which the shower support (1) slides. A flexible plaited cord (10) cable or chain is attached at one end to a mobile piece attached to the shower support, and, at the other end, to a mobile piece attached to a handle (2). The cord winds round a pulley. The two mobile pieces (4, 5) are slide-mounted inside one or two separate sections (3). The two mobile pieces (4, 5) have holes in the top, through which go the strands of the cable, chain or cord, and where they are knotted, or fitted with a pin.
