1277522 Rolling mills DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 April 1970] 17133/70 Heading B3M A rolling mill includes a pair of housings 1 and 2 in which the chocks of a pair of rolls 6 and 7 are supported, the lower chocks 8 having extensions 12 on which wheels 13 are carried, the wheels being engageable with tracks to facilitate removal of the rolls from the mill. To remove the rolls, extension rails 16 are raised by pistoncylinder units 19 until they are aligned with rails 14 inside the mill and rails 15 on the mill floor. The extension rails are thereby moved into contact with the wheels 13, and hence raise the roll assemblies from supporting surfaces in the housings. The assemblies can then be rolled out of the mill. Spacers 11 are positioned between the chocks of the rolls 6 and 7 during removal of the assemblies. |
