摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the hardness of the alloy without impairing the sintering property, by making the superhard sintered alloy constituted of the hard phase consisting of the B1 solid solution of metal carbide, etc. and the binding phase consisting of the metal of the iron group contain a specified amount of oxygen. CONSTITUTION:By sintering the alloy constituted of the hard phase consisting of the B1 solid solution containing the carbide of the element of the VI a group, such as WC, etc., one kind or more than two kinds out of the metals of the IV a, V a, and VI a groups, such as Ti, Ta, Nb, etc. and the nonmetals such as C, N, O, etc. and the binding phase consisting of the metal of the iron group, such as Co, etc., the superhard sintered alloy is prepared. At this time, as the atmosphere for sintering, CO of the partial pressure above 10 Torr is used at a temperature above 800 deg.C. The alloy is made to contain O2 of a number of atoms of 0.5-30% of the total of the number of atoms of the elements of the IV a and V a groups in the B1 solid solution as the hard phase. In the case where the metal carbide in the solid solution is WC, MoC or (W.Mo)C, Ti, Ta, etc. are used as the metal elements of the main components and the alloy is made to contain O2 of a number of atoms of 1-10% of the number of atoms of Ti+Ta. With this method, the superhard sintered alloy being excellent as cutting tool, wear-resisting material, etc. is obtained.
