The container has side walls (4) and a bottom (5). The bottom is connected to a fixed structure by a jack (8) which allows it to pivot, during filling of the container from a horizontal upper position to an inclined lower position. This increases the capacity of the container. The side walls are extended downwardly to encompass the bottom (5) in its lower position. The bottom is pivoted about a horizontal axis. A door (9) can be opened by a jack (11) to empty the container's contents on to a conveyor (12).
