The disc brake has two brake discs (3, 5) which are acted on by the pressure plates (2, 4) which are, in turn, actuated by the piston (8) in the brake cylinder (7). In order to check the amount of wear of the brake linings, a bolt (12) with a plain shank is fitted in a hole (11) in the housing (1) and retained by a spring clip (21). When the permissible wear has occurred the movement of the pressure plate (4) to the left allows the bolt (12) to be pushed further into the housing (1) and so indicate the amount of wear.
