The cold-hammering metal-forming process obtains a flat circular grooved head (8) on the end of a round section shaft (5). The piece, originally with a rough truncated conical head (2), is placed in a smooth plane circular matrix (9) with a central hole (10) locating the shaft (5). A circular punch (12) with concentric 'V' section grooves (6) then descends to push and deform the conical head into the matrix. The finished piece may be incorporated in rubber mountings with a rubber block bonded to the grooved face. The active punch face may have a central circular zone (4) which is smooth and devoid of grooves. The latter zone (4) fits the truncated conical head (3) of the original rough piece (2, 5).
|
