Partially drawn synthetic fibres, pref. polyester, are fed from a creel to form a yarn sheet which is heated in an oven before being sized. The object is to confer a complementary drawing operation on partially drawn fibres, in combination with warping and/or sizing processes. The complementary drawing, carried out immediately before sizing, provides consistent, regular yarn sheets, with all the yarns offering similar characteristics. Further, such a device permits the production, on demand, of under- or over-drawn yarns, when such stocks have become depleted. Since all the yarns are treated together, there is no risk of mixing a particular batch.
|
