<p>The press comprises a horizontal cylinder with wall openings to discharge juice, and a hopper from which fruit is gravity-fed into the cylinder. Juice extn. now takes place as fruit in the cylinder is pressed by a ram which can be moved axially to and fro inside the cylinder. The ram pref. passes directly beneath the cylinder aperture communicating with the feed hopper. The cylinder is pref. formed in two, axially-aligned sections; a first section in which the ram reciprocates beneath the feed hopper and a second section which has a discharge door for marc at the far end from the first section. The two sections have separate drainage for collection of juice from first and second stage pressings. Juice from first and second stage pressings is automatically sepd. The press is compact, can be portable or mobile and thus used on site.</p> |
