<p>The adjustable therapeutic couch consists of a middle section (4) and two end sections (5a, 5b) supported above a base (1) by three pneumatic cylinders (3, 6a, 6b). The middle section is raised and lowered by a vertical cylinder (3) and the end sections are tilted by two sloping cylinders (6a, 6b). The end sections tilt about hinges at the top of the sloping cylinders which also tilt about the base. Each cylinder has a diameter of about 80 mm, at a pressure of 4 bars, each giving a total force of 200 kilos. The pressure is controlled by a valve system, and pressure is maintained so that a given degree of resilience is maintained. The top surface of the end sections is formed by a foamed mattress containing an inflatable chamber (9, 10). The cylinders are double acting.</p> |
