Holder and its current leads inside the furnace are supported by a double-walled water cooling jacket which is coaxial with the electrode. The jacket extends downwards to a ring which presses the current carrying cheeks onto the electrode. The jacket is divided into an upper, cylindrical section and a lower section made by assembling removable segments to form a cylinder. The upper cylinder is pref. also assembled from segmentS, from which cooling water flows into the lower segmentS, which have tubular plugs pressed into water supply and return sockets fitted on the bottom end of the upper segments. Easy maintenance, repair and/or replacement of the holder components inside the furnace.
