<p>A high tensile strength belt to contact a drive pulley is made by heat-bonding a nylon surface layer to a rubber sheet, passing the laminate and a sheet of high strength oriented nylon towards each other in transverse alignment to a mating position with the nylon surface together, and depositing nylon activating liquid onto the surfaces. Pressure and heat are applied in the mating zone so that the sheets bond together at a temp. below that at which the nylon orientation would be impaired substantially. The liquid is e.g. a methanol-base compsn. and the rubber is e.g. a prevulcanised PVC rubber. The rubber provides an acceptable surface e.g. for use in the food industry.</p> |
