Steered axle for towing vehicle - is mounted on pivoted subframe to maintain ground pressure with subframe braced by dampers

The steered axle of the towing vehicle is supported on a subframe which is pivoted about a transverse horizontal axis near the front of the vehicle, the rear of the subframe being braced on dampers. The subframe ensures good contact between the front wheels and the ground. The system ensures that when the vehicle tows then the front wheels are not raised from the ground, loosing steering control.
