<p>MeNO2 (I) and/or EtNO2 (II) are used as solvent adhesives for bonding methacrylate plastics, or as adhesive additives. (I) and/or (II) may be used on their own or as mixts. contg. (i) >30 wt.% (I) and/or (II) and 70 wt.% of other volatile, organic liqs., having b.pt. 200 degrees C, and opt. also (ii) dissolved polymers, provided soln. viscosity is =10,000 mPa. sec./20 degrees C. The compsns. are used for bonding methacrylate plastics, e.g. Me methacrylate (co)polymers, with one another or with other materials, e.g. paper, wood, metal or plastics; and partic. for bonding acrylic glass-, esp. extruded acrylic glass parts to one another. Clear, blister-free adhesion is achieved. Adhesive strength on bonding acrylic glass parts may reach 36.6 N/mm2 with (I) or 34.8 N/mm2 with (II).</p> |
