Check valve has an apertured plate (7) arranged between two membranes (4, 14) adapted to be pressed together by a spring-urged first closure member (3). The aperture is a seat (6) for a second closure member (5) situated between the membranes flush with the plate. The membrane remote from the first closure member is embedded in an undercut recess in the second closure member and is held in the recess by a retaining washer (12). The latter has a screw thread enabling removal.
