A vehicle seat comprises a backrest which includes a frame 1 having an upper cross-bar 2 and side frames 4 and 5 which project forwardly from the cross-bar and to which are attached lateral padding elements 16 and 17 which form laterally extending bulges 7 and 8. A pad support element (15) which is secured to the lower crossbar 6 carries a central padding element 18 the sides of which abut against the sides of elements 16 and 17 and the rear surface of which together with the adjacent surface of the pad support is provided with a coating or sheet of anti-friction material so that the pad 18 may be moved in its longitudinal direction guided by elements 16 and 17 with relatively small friction. |
