Determination of bending strength of carton or paper articles - uses gripping rectangular piece of structure on two opposite sides and repeated bending to angle of 180 degrees

The method for determining the bending strength of flexible surface structures is applied esp. to paper and cardboard and is carried out on a device which has two turntables (4, 5) arranged concentrically on a pivot. Each turntable is fitted with a clamping jaw (2, 3) to grip the test strip (1). A drive mechanism in provided for one of the turntables and a dynamometer is assigned to the other turntable. The drive may be driven by a synchronous motor or a stepping motor. The bending moment is recorded in dependence on the angle of rotation.
