A belt tension test device (13) is designed partic. for vehicle engine v-belts. It has a spring supported at one end on the housing and at the other by a sliding piston with a belt support at its end remote from the spring. A screw moves the piston against belt tension iva the spring. An indicator shows the movement of the piston and one end of the spring. It is designed to occupy only a small volume near the belt and to give accurate results independent of test point belt characteristics. A twin bowden cable transfers piston and spring movement into indicator and scale rotations.
