The coaxially arranged parts of the planing chain swivel comprise a swivel body (1) and a swivel fork (2) whose outer ends each terminate in a two-armed fork (8) for receiving a chain link. Each fork arm (9) has a borehole (12) through which passes a bolt (11) for holding the chain link in place. The bolts are secured against axial displacement by tangential clamping pins (14). The complete structure is made resistant to bending loadings by a web (16) located between a hole (3) in the body and the base (15) of the body fork arms (9). The body and fork are manufactured as forged components.
