PURPOSE:To effectively sensitize a photographic material with no increase in fog, no deterioration in shelf stability, etc. by sensitizing a color coupler with a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:To 1mol of silver halide is added 10<-5>-10<-2>mol of at least one kind of ketone compounds represented by formulaeI-VI wherein R1 is an aliphatic (aromatic) hydrocarbon residue, a hetero ring radical, -OR8 or substituted amino; R2 is H, (substituted) lower alkyl, -OR11, -SR12, or -OCOR13; R3 is an aliphatic (aromatic) hydrocarbon residue, a hetero ring radical or substituted amino; R4 is an aliphatic (aromatic) hydrocarbon residue or a hetero ring radical; R5 is a bonding radical, a divalent aliphatic (aromatic) hydrocarbon residue or a divalent hetero ring radical; R8 is H or an aliphatic (aromatic) hydrocarbon residue; each of R11, R12 and R13 is an aliphatic (aromatic) hydrocarbon residue; and X is sulfinyl or sulfonyl. |
