The cigar outer wrappings are cut two at a time from the tobacco leaf, the leaf being held by vacuum applied through perforations. The first wrapping is near the tip of the leaf and includes the main rib; the second wrapping is to one side, parallel to the rib. After cutting, a vacuum head transfers the wrappings onto a storage reel, a belt being wound off one reel onto another with the wrappings between. These wrappings pass between pressure rollers before being reeled, in order to flatten the leaf ribs. |
