The disc in the bottom of the drum has downward-pointing pockets in it in which are mounted cutter-blades which project outwards as a result of centrifugal force when the machine is opeating. Between the pockets there is a ridge on the disc, concentrical to the rotational axis of the drum. The ridge is positioned near the outside edge of the disc and points downwards. Alternatively, the ridges may be situated on the underneath or upper side of the disc and be correspondingly downward- or upward-pointing. The ridges may be curved or straight and begin behind the cutter blade in the rotational direction. The disc is a truncated cone shape. The height of the ridges is constant and equals the depth of the pockets along the disc. |
