A method of producing activated feedstuffs or feedstuff mixtures in which at least one component is present in the form of grain or small-sized animal or vegetable substances sufficiently hard for grinding, by grinding this substance with the routine addition of other feedstuff ingredients known per se like vitamins, minerals, trace elements, growth-promoting, conserving, taste-imparting and other components, is characterised in that the grinding of at least the one grindable component with simultaneous mechanical infusion of energy is effected by impacting or beating such that the result, apart from the comminuting and homogenizing effect, is activation of this component by changing its fine structure and thus its physico-chemical properties, in particular its ability to react, e.g. to form utilizable albumen by biochemical means. In an embodiment, grain is ground between contra-rotating discs 29, 30 provided with concentric rows of interengaging, non-cylindrical pins 31, 32, 33 and is mixed with chopped fibrous material and is pelletised. <IMAGE> |
