Pneumatic tyred electric tramway system - has steerable wheels and cross connected and driven by transmission using cardan shafts

An electric tramway system uses vehicles running on pneumatic tyres and guided by two rails (1). Each vehicle has two axles (9) and at their ends are hinged two vertical pivots on which four wheels (5) are mounted. These are parallel, can be steered and are joined by connecting rods (11). The wheel alignment is controlled by cylindrical roller bearings running in vertical grooves in the road surface. These guiding bearings are at the lower end of stub shafts and are solid with them. The four steering wheels can be driven via a transmission (12) with differentials (65) and cardan shafts. Propulsion can be given by two other twin wheels on a third axle at the centre of the vehicle.
