The actuator for a friction clutch has an actuating finger engaging with a groove in a friction ring. The latter is moved axially by a hand lever. The actuating sleeve has an actuating fork (9). The actuating groove (17) has sloping flanks (18). The pivoting axis of the actuator is on the bisector of the angle formed by sloping flanks. Hence the actuating contact element contacts groove flanks at right angles.
