The assembler for cables having two or more single or groups of wires laid up together ultimately having an outer sheath or sheaths. The assembler is automatic and provides alternate direction twisting of the wires maintaining a high output rate with constant tension and at the same time preventing damage to wires or insulation. Wires to be laid up are passed through two spacer discs (7, 4) rotating synchronously and driven (1, 2, 3) from a programmable motor (6). The twisting action continues until the output disc (4) is reached when reversal takes place.
