<p>Prefabricated thermoplastic components are assembled by several multipoint ultrasonic welding tools impinging simultaneously on different parts of the joints. Specifically claimed for building vehicle bodywork components. Pref. the joint zones of the components feature sharp superficial studs or ribs typically 0.5-1 mm high to concentrate the impulse heating effects. For making composite structures from mouldings 1-4 mm thick of e.g. pololefins, polyamide, styrene copolymers etc. at rates competitive with spot welded steel assemblies, i.e. in cycle times of 3-5s.</p> |
