<p>A miniaturized balloon catheter includes a cannula which, in use, is attached at one end to a source of pressurised fluid; and a balloon attached to the other end. In use the balloon and catheter are carried by fluid in a small vessel along the vessel and the balloon is inflated when in the correct position. The balloon has a passage which opens when the internal pressure reaches a determined value such that some pressurized fluid leaks into the vessel. Pref. the passage has a dia. of 0.001 inc. The balloon is pref. thicker around the passage to provide reinforcement. The balloon can be used to permanently occlude blood vessels.</p> |
