The reflective strip is used for road markings and is made from a thermosetting or thermoplastic material having a thickness of approx. 4mm. The material is covered with glass balls, embedded in the surface to reflect back the rays from vehicle head lights. When the strip (B) is applied to the road surface (S) grooves are impressed in it by a fluted roller. These grooves are inclined to the direction of the road and each groove is 1-3 mm deep (a). The pitch (b) between grooves is 3-6 mm and, to obtain maximum reflection, the sides (P) of the grooves have an inclination of 3-4 deg. |
