The mouldings, etc. are immersed in molten coaltar pitch which contains 0.5% of substances (a) which are insol. in quinoline; the pitch is obtd. from glance coal. The pref. pitch is filtered before use. Used to improve the mechanical and electrical properties of carbon or graphite objects, e.g. graphite electrodes where the invention increases the absorption of the coalar pitch and reduces the impregnation time.
