Orthopaedic made-to-measure shoe insert is made in a mould in which is laid a piece of leather, with the side of the leather in contact with the foot facing the mould wall, and with the other side of the leather piece being coated with a 1.5-2.5 mm thick layer of Bernestein synthetic resin Leguval K 27 (Trade Name) and overlaid with Glass roving tapes RL 603 027-9 cm, to provide dimensional stability and the required supporting strength. Assembly is then subjected to curing in a thermal vacuum process. Mould is a gypsum impression of foot to be treated and the thermal vacuum process may last 5 mins., whereupon the insert may be annealed.
