Process for the preparation of polymers of conjugated dienes or of copolymers of conjugated dienes either with each other or with a vinylaromatic compound

The homopolymerisation of conjugated dienes or the copolymerisation of conjugated dienes either with each other or with vinylaromatic compounds is carried out in solution in the presence of a catalyst of formula Me<II>[Al(C2H5)4]2 in which Me<II> denotes, for example, Ba, Sr or Ca, or else in the presence of a catalyst of formula LiAl(C2H5)4. The process makes it possible to obtain on an industrial scale, in a relatively short time and in good yield, polymers or copolymers which have an elasticity resembling that of rubber and which can be employed in the manufacture of tyre casings.
