<p>The elastic hinge (8) may be deployed on side hung opening windows (1). It provides for pivoting of the leaf (1) about one of its edges (8), seals the edge (8) completely whether the window (1) is open or shut, and may be used to effect an automatic self-engendered return of the window (1) to a predetermined repose position. The hinge (8) may comprise a continuous elastic or elastomeric strip which is fixed (13) to one edge of the window and to the static frame (12). The strip extends over the whole of the window edge concerned and may be fixed directly to a masonry wall (4) defining the opening (2).</p> |
